expressions about rain -

태풍 갈매기의 영향으로 지난 주말에 비가 많이 왔다.
앞이 보이지 않을 정도로...맞으면 따가울 정도로 쏟아졌다.
사람들이 이런 비를 '장대비' (장대 = a pole, 비 = rain)라는 말을 쓴다.
장대처럼 굵고 거세게 좍좍 내리는 비라는 뜻이다.
한자로 얘기하면 집중호우(集中豪雨) 라고나 할까..

한국사람들은 비가 이렇게 쏟아지는 것을 '장대'로 봤는데...프랑스인들은 밧줄처럼 보이나보다.
프랑스어로 비가 쏟아지는 모습을 "Il pleut des cordes [eel pleu day kuhrd]"라고 하는 것을 보면.
literally it means "It's raining ropes" 정도 되겠다. it makes sense to me. :D

영어로는 "It's raining cats and dogs" 라고 한다.

다른 나라에서는 비가 쏟아지는 모습을 어떻게 표현할까???
