Learning Languages with Nintendo DS
Hello everyone. I'm just wondering if people can suggest some Nintendo DS games/software for learning. I know there's a ton of them for Japanese, but I was wondering if anyone knows any games for learning Mandarin and Korean or any other language for that matter. For Mandarin, I'm looking for something marketed towards native speakers, if any (such as Kanken DS for Japanese).

I think you'll have problem with anything for Chinese native speakers... There isn't much market for the DS here. Everyone has a PSP portable.
OK. Do you know any games for Korean?
Nick,
I couldn't find any games that teach Korean, but I've found some games that ARE in Korean ^^
for example, check out this one,

considering your level of Korean now, I think you'll surely benefit a lot from this kind of games! ^^
The beginning of that trailer reminds me of Miyazaki films. Oh how I love them.
But, Hyunwoo, are you kidding!? That game is full of riddles and puzzles and its extremely hard in English! How can we possibly do it in Korean? ^_^;;
I'm just overreacting. Its probably do-able. I'm waiting for Final Fantasy in Korean...then my life will be complete.
Oh...and I don't know if this is what you're talking about Nick, but they just came out with My Chinese Coach in the US and My Japanese Coach (they also have Spanish and French!).
i play cooking mama in korean and it sure helps alot because the words are pretty repetitive, so they tend to stick in your mind.
hyunwoo, yep i heard about professor layton in korean. i love that game! but i played it in english.
i hope they release a 'my korean coach' too.
Thanks to everyone for all the info...
I doubt I can play that game Hyunwoo recommended, my Korean is not enough for that...
Yeah I read about my Chinese coach, and not sure if it's too basic. I want something like Kanken but for Hanzi....
So is cooking mama a game that teaches you how to cook Korean food? I'll get that when my Korean is better.
hey nick,
cooking mama is a cooking game where you cook all kinds of food, the only difference for the korean version is that the instructions are in korean. ;) you may try playing the US one first, then the korean.
you have a nice site. thanks for sharing this resources. keep it up. anyway, various kinds of ebooks are available from here
